I Want to Live Forever

One day I and God were talking.

I: I don’t want to die. I want to live forever.

God: Sure, Mate. But don’t you think you will be bored?

I: Yeah, that’s true. Maybe, you can make me forget everything once in a while.

God: OK. I can do that. Don’t you want to be young and start your life again?

I: Of course, I want that. Who doesn’t want to be a child again? Maybe, you can make me a kid, so that I can start over again.

God: OK. Do you want to be exactly the same person?

I: No. I want some changes. But I want to have control over who I am going to be.

God: OK. How? I will do whatever you ask me to.

I: Maybe, you can mix me with a person I like. That person’s characters can add to mine.

God: OK. I will do that also. Don’t you want to face big challenges? Being successful being a cripple or a girl in an oppressive society?

I: Of course, I want to face big challenges, so that I can show my resilience. Give me random problems, so that I can become a hero.

God: OK. I will get you back your youth. I will change your situations, looks, challenges etc regularly. Do you want wild swings or minor swings in your life style?

I: I want them to be mostly minor. I have to learn each time and make myself something.

God: Alright. Who do you want to be your guide in each of your lives when you are a kid?

I: It would be nice if it was me guiding me. Is that possible?

God: Yes, of course. There will be some time when both your new you and your old you will be together. And your old you will guide your new you.

Then God gave me my kid and said: This is your new you. I mixed some of you with the characters of the person you liked (my wife). Make sure, you realize your dreams.

I did not know whether he meant my dreams or my kid’s? Oh I forgot! I am my kid. I (old I) should make sure that I (new I) get the best opportunity to realize my new dreams.

Disclaimer: I don't believe in the usual god. I posted this in this form just to convey whatever I attempted to convey in my "The Nature of Self and Identity", in a simpler and direct manner.
